Newer Member Training

The association provides training for individuals who are new to the organization. This training is suitable for any umpire whether or not they have any prior experience. Members will be required to attend the training clinics and training meetings for their first three years. There is NO FEE charged for attending the DBUA training clinics. There is a small fee associated with the TASO Regional Clinic held in January.

The training consists of a few Saturdays and includes video, classroom and on-field instruction as well as our general weekly meetings.  In addition, there are two weekends of scrimmages (also Saturdays) where the new members will work under the guidance of some our senior umpires (weather permitting).

This training does not "make" you an umpire. It is designed to provide a solid basis upon which you can begin to develop the skills required to be an umpire. The course schedule and topics can be seen at the links below.
